SAFFORD — Local families and book lovers across Graham and Greenlee counties are invited to join the Safford City-Graham County Library in honoring country icon Dolly Parton’s literacy legacy during “Give Like Dolly Day” this Friday, Sept. 25.
The event highlights the local reach of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that fosters an early love of reading by providing age-appropriate books to children at no cost to their families.
Organizers are encouraging community members to participate in several ways throughout the day:
- Read Together: Take time to read with children and loved ones.
- Enroll Young Readers: Register local children ages 0 to 5 to begin receiving free monthly books delivered directly to their mailboxes.
- Support Local Literacy: Support the local agencies and community partners that help bring the Imagination Library to children across Graham and Greenlee counties.
- Share Your Story: Recipients and parents are encouraged to share their personal stories of being part of the Imagination Library—from the excitement of a new book arriving in the mail to cherished bedtime reading memories.
“However you mark the day, know that we’re celebrating with you in Dolly’s honor,” the library shared in an announcement.
