SAFFORD – With the holiday season kicking into full gear, the city of Safford has announced it will be having its second annual Angel Wish Tree and is looking for the community’s assistance.

The city is seeking nominations for those who could benefit from a little extra holiday cheer this year to have names on the tree. Once the names are received, city staff will put the Angel tags on trees at the Safford City Annex at 808 S. 8th Ave. and at Thriftee Food & Drug at 755 S. Central Ave., Safford.

Once the trees are in place, the public is encouraged to pick a tag to become an angel for that person and help fulfill some holiday wishes. Those who take tags are asked to bring the presents with the tags back to the City Annex by Dec. 14.

City staff will wrap and prepare the presents for delivery between Dec. 18 – 22, with special delivery via Safford Police officers on Dec. 22.

The city is also accepting donations for wrapping paper, gift bags, and boxes, as well as other items that could benefit the Angel Tree.

So, be on the lookout for the Angel Tree at Thriftee and Safford City Annex this holiday season and help spread the joy.

For more information, donations, or nominations, contact Joan Soto with the city of Safford at (928) 432-4140.
