MORENCI – U.S. Highway 191 North is closed in both directions midway between Alpine and Morenci in eastern Arizona, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The closure is between mileposts 204 and 207. It’s due to adverse effects from the heavy rain and prevents travel between the towns of Alpine and Morenci.

This is in the area of the Bear Fire burn scar.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek an alternate route.

There is no estimated time to reopen the highway.

Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, by calling 511 and through ADOT’s Twitter feed,@ArizonaDOT. When a freeway closure or other major traffic event occurs, our free app available at ADOTAlerts.com will send critical information directly to app users in affected areas – where possible, in advance of alternate routes.
