GILA COUNTY – Motorists on U.S. Highway 60 between Miami and Superior should expect daily lane restrictions for the Pinto Creek Bridge replacement project starting Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Alternating lane closures are planned Mondays through Thursdays between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Fridays between 6 a.m. and noon. During those hours, flaggers will be directing traffic and drivers should plan for delays. The daily lane closures are expected to last for several weeks.

Crews have successfully used heavy equipment to remove rock from the access road to the bottom of Pinto Creek. If progress continues, fewer full closures of U.S. Highway 60 for rock blasting are expected.

The first full closure of U.S. Highway 60 is tentatively delayed to Thursday, Oct. 31, between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Future closures will be scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays in November.

Drivers should proceed with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
