PIMA – Another area football player has inked their name on the dotted line as Pima’s Conner Piippo signed his letter-of-intent Wednesday to play football for the Southern Virginia University Knights.

Like Thatcher’s Riley Morris, who signed with Southern Utah University, Piippo will defer reporting for two years to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Knights are a Division III NCAA team and play in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The team is fairly new, as it played its first season in 2003. The Knights finished 3-7 last year while allowing 360 yards of offense and 27 points against their defense.

Piippo hopes to help change that stat as he will be moving from playing left tackle on offense and defensive tackle to playing defensive end for SVU.
