FLAGSTAFF – The Pima girls basketball team continued their winning ways Saturday morning at the Pepsi Holiday Tournament in Flagstaff with a 55-23 walloping of the 3A Tuba City Warriors (5-1) in the semifinals.
The win places Pima (7-0) against host 4A Flagstaff (2-0 region, 6-1 overall), which defeated 2A Sedona Red Rock in the other semifinal 52-37.
Saydee Allred hit four from deep and led the way for the Roughriders with 20 points. That gives her 60 points through the four games of the tournament so far.
The balanced scoring also saw Aubrie Sherwood with 8; Ashlie Sherwood with 6; Jayci McClain and Ella Wiltbank with 5 each; Ashlynn Chlarson and Samantha Pippo with 4 each; and Maya Mattice with 3.
Pima has gone 4-0 during the tournament so far, with wins over the 3A Winslow Bulldogs, 55-44; the 6A Alhambra Lions, 52-18, and the 4A Paradise Honors Panthers, and the 3A Tuba City Warriors, 55-23.
The championship game will start at 5 p.m. Saturday night.
