WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, on the three-year anniversary of former Senator John McCain’s passing, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) issued the following statement:

“Today, Arizonans share their memories of, and lessons learned, from Senator John McCain. A Vietnam war veteran and POW, a defender of health care and the common man, a true maverick—Senator McCain’s legacy as an American hero will endure.

“I know that our Congress, too often plagued with partisan games and politicking, would benefit now more than ever from Senator McCain’s leadership. In his absence, I urge my colleagues to join me in uplifting his memory and his vision for a more commonsense, compassionate government that works for the people, not partisan interests.

“It was the honor of a lifetime to serve across the Capitol from Senator McCain for two years and to work together to improve the lives of Arizonans. Learning from his example, I will always seek to uphold his values by putting country over party and leading with courage and a strong moral compass.

“My thoughts, and the thoughts of all Arizonans, are with the entire McCain family today.”
