ORO VALLEY – This month, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) welcomed Derek Duba to join his Oro Valley office as a Wounded Warrior Fellow. Duba will work closely with both veteran and active-duty constituents to handle veterans-related casework and to help act as a facilitator between constituents and federal, state, and local agencies.

“Veterans have put their lives on the line in service to our country and have the knowledge and expertise to make a meaningful difference in their communities,” O’Halleran said. “I look forward to seeing the good Derek will do as a strong advocate for both former and active-duty service members in Arizona, and I am confident that First District veterans are in good hands as we work to ensure all are able to receive the benefits and honors they have earned.”

Prior to joining O’Halleran’s team, Duba served in the Army for eight years and earned a seat at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, where he began his career as a military intelligence professional. Duba later developed a passion for policy through his work conducting research for both the Arizona Senate Appropriations Committee and Arizona State University.

“I’m thrilled to put my hard-earned experience and education to work in service of Arizona’s military community at Congressman O’Halleran’s office,” Duba said. “I see this honor as an opportunity to pay forward the kindness and stewardship of the many veterans, service members, service organizations, and public servants that empowered me to transition from military life to a healthy, productive civilian career.”

The Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program was established by the House of Representatives to provide employment opportunities for wounded or disabled veterans within Member offices.
