Obituary for Vera Wooley

Vera Lou McDonald Wooley, of Safford, passed away on Aug. 18, 2019, at the age of 94. She
was born in Decatur, Texas, to William Orbin and Willie Velma Price McDonald, with siblings
Faye, Jackie, Jerri, Billie, Orbin Lee, Bobby, Sissie, and Hinton.

Vera married Ernest L. Wooley on Au/ 16, 1942, and later, two children joined the family; Ernest L. Jr., and Loretta V. Wooley. Vera was so proud of her family and loved caring for them, and strangely, she also loved to iron. Vera also enjoyed taking care of other people in need. She was a strong, independent and loving person who was also caring and selfless. She always thought of others first. Her favorite songs were “The Old Rugged Cross” and “As the Roll is Called Up Yonder”.

She is survived by her daughter, Loretta V. Snodderly, her grandchildren; Shirley (Bill) Ingram, Thomas “Tommy”, Dennis “Denny”, and Michael “Mike” Snodderly. She is also survived by her siblings, Bobby (Elsie) McDonald, Hinton (Bonnie) McDonald, and Sissie (Don) Wilfong; her great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler “Lane”, Zach, Michael, Geoffrey, Kaylee, Brandon, Tayson, Dallas, Tatum, and Victoria “Tori” Snodderly, Kevin and Heather Ingram and six great-greatgrandchildren.

Vera is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest L. Wooley; her parents, William and Willie
McDonald; her son, Ernest L. Wooley, Jr.; her sisters, Faye Bolduc, Jackie Hatfield, Jerri Briggs, and
Billie Dewberry; and her brother, Orbin Lee McDonald. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Christopher Ingram.

The family is hosting a Celebration of Life at the Graham County Search & Rescue Building, 630 Dusty Trail Road in Thatcher, on Aug. 23, beginning at 11 a.m.
