Roland Edman Barnes passed away on Feb. 27, 2021, in Safford, Arizona at the age of 80. Roland was born on Dec. 23, 1940 in Cushman, Arkansas to Ed Barnes and Mearl Clark Barnes.
Roland graduated from Cushman High School in Cushman, Arkansas. He met and married his loving wife, Marcella, on Sept. 6, 1968, in Safford, Arizona.
He enjoyed traveling back to Arkansas to visit family and friends. He was a skilled mason and when he wasn’t working, he was an avid NASCAR fan.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mearl Clark Barnes; beloved wife, Marcella Barnes; Trudy Cross, of Moro, Arkansas; Charles Barnes, of Cushman, Arkansas; Bonnie Pilgrim, of Lepanto, Arkansas; Bill Barnes of Monterey, Louisiana, and Freddie Barnes.
He is survived by children, Debra Hallet, Quentin (Debbie) Barnes, and Clayton (Dianne) Barnes; grandchildren, Nicole Lee, Heather Reid, Sonja Ferber, Alyssa Taylor, Brock Barnes, Tyrel Taylor, Dylan Phelps, and Savannah Barnes; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bob (Geraldine) Barnes, of Lepanto, Arkansas , Betty Vaughn, of Monterey, Louisiana, Agnes Smalling, of Monterey, Louisiana, Teddy Barnes, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Dean (Joyce) Barnes, Jackie Barnes, and Debbie Tyler, of Lepanto, Arkansas .
Services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021, at the McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel beginning with a Viewing at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., with interment in the Pima Cemetery.
