Obituary for Robert ‘Bob’ Earl Wayne Chapman

Robert “Bob” Earl Wayne Chapman, of Safford, passed away June 13, 2019. He was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Robert John Chapman and Bertha Strand Chapman, joining his siblings, Richard, Gail, and Linda.

After attending high school in the Milwaukee area, Bob went on to trade school, graduating in 1950 as a painter. On June 2, 1951, Bob married his one true love, Marilyn Mickow. The young couple was blessed with four children; Scott, Jeffery, Paula, and Carie. Bob worked hard and soon began the R. Chapman Painting, Co.

Bob had many hobbies and interests, such as woodworking, camping, being a ham radio operator and a member of the Eastern Arizona Amateur Radio Society, and the “Builders for Christ”. One of his favorite sayings was “God is good”.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Chapman, and his children, Scott (Dawn) Chapman, Jeffery (Kathy) Chapman, Paula (Rev. Steven) Stoll, and Carie (Bill) McCowen. He is also survived by his sisters, Gail Toellner and Linda Bernstein; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and his beloved pet dog, Lilly Mae. 

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bertha Chapman, and his brother, Richard Chapman.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church located at 225 E. Main Street in Safford. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Grace Lutheran Church.
