Obituary for Michael Lucero

Michael Stevan Lucero, 33, of Safford, passed away on July 18, 2020, with his mother, Melissa, and his fiancé, Candice, at his side. He was born on Dec. 31, 1986, in Safford to parents Ernesto Estevan Lucero, Jr. and Melissa Webb Lucero, with sisters Tiffany and Crystal.

Michael attended Safford High School and later found the love of his life, Candice Rios. Together, they were blessed with two children, Nevaeh, and Mikelle Lucero.

Michael loved to go hunting, fishing, camping, spending quality time with his family, listening to country music, and working in the construction industry.  Sometimes he just enjoyed doing nothing and being a “mama’s boy” and an uncle, those things made his day.

Michael Lucero

He was a son, fiancé, father, brother, uncle, and nephew. Michael was a great father and would often say, “I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good now as I’m gonna be” and “I got this!” He was very respectful, kind, and courteous, and had a great sense of humor. Michael will truly be missed by all who had the opportunity to get to know him.

Michael is survived by his one true love, Candice Rios; his children, Nevaeh and Mikelle Lucero; his mother, Melissa Lucero, and his sisters, Tiffany and Crystal Lucero.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernesto Lucero, Jr.

A viewing will be held Thursday, July 23, at the McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel, beginning at 4 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 5 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel & Gila Valley Crematory.  Online condolence may be extended at www.caldwellfuneralchapel.com.
