Obituary for Martin Edmund Maxon

Martin Edmund Maxon, 63, of Safford, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019, in Tucson. Martin was born Oct. 15, 1955, in Elgin, Illinois to Norman Mead Maxon and Catherine Magdalene Donahue. He has seven siblings; Mark Maxon, Tom Maxon, John Maxon, Greg Maxon, Mary Bunch, Michael Maxon, and Pat Maxon.

Martin graduated from Salpointe High School in 1974. He served as a commissioned officer in the Public Health Service. Martin married Cindy Maxon and he has two step-children; Julia Lovett and John Korinko. Martin served the Gila Valley community as a dentist with Safford Dental Care for more than 30 years. As an active member of the Catholic Church, Martin was known for his Christian Ministry through Dentistry. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Martin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being in the great outdoors. He was a fun-loving man with a great sense of humor and a big heart. His friendships, his family, and his marriage are what meant the most to him.

He is survived by his mother, Catherine Maxon; his wife, Cindy Maxon; and his children, Julia Lovett, and John Korinko.

Martin is preceded in death by his father, Norman Mead Maxon; and his brothers, John, and Tom Maxon.

Services will take place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Solomon, beginning Friday, May 10, with a Recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m., with Mass at 11 a.m., with Father Mark Maxon as Celebrant. Graveside services at Safford Cemetery will immediately follow Mass.

The family requests contributions be extended to St. Vincent de Paul in Safford.
