Obituary for Leo Vilas Miller

Leo Vilas Miller, 75, of Clifton, passed away peacefully Jan. 3. Leo was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on May 29, 1943, to Vilas and Elberta Miller. He had two siblings; Valetta Edrich and Douglas Miller.

Leo served our great nation in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1963. On Feb. 15, 1984, he married his sweetheart Olga in Silver City, New Mexico. Leo has five children; Thomas Miller (Kathryn), Timothy Miller (Stacey), Anthony Miller, Roy A. Garcia, and Shelly Garcia. He has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Leo was very active in the community as a member of the American Legion, Elks Club, Greenlee County Country Club, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he helped with numerous fundraisers.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, playing cards, taking care of his lawn, drinking beer, and watching all sports, especially baseball and his favorite Arizona Diamondbacks. Leo will be remembered as a good man who was faithful and had integrity.  He was a hard worker who knew how to have a good time.

He is survived by his wife, Olga Miller, and preceded in death by his parents, Vilas and Elberta Miller.

A viewing was held Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Services will be Thursday, Jan. 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing at 8 a.m., followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 9 a.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery following Mass.
