Obituary for Josephine Aguilar

Josephine G. Aguilar, 96, of Clifton, passed away Oct. 16, in Gilbert. She was born March 4, 1922, in Clifton,  to Manuel Gomez and Guadalupe Vega.  Josephine was one of six children born to Manuel and Guadalupe; Carmen, Santiago, Dolores, Juan, and David.

Josephine fell in love with Manuel Aguilar, and on April 21, 1939, they were married in Clifton.  They were blessed with six children; Steve, Leo, Rey, Veronica, Emma, and Manny.  Josephine was very religious and was a member of Holy Cross and Beneficio Propio.  She loved cooking for her family and friends.  She was known for her tamales and tortillas.  She also loved gardening and spent many hours tending to her rose bushes and chili plants. Josephine loved to crochet and made various items, such as table clothes, afghans, and doilies for her children and grandchildren. She also had a passion for shopping.

She is survived by her children; Steve (Marilyn) Aguilar, Leo (Nellie) Aguilar, Veronica (Donald) Stacey, Emma (John) Yeoman, and Jose Manuel (Sandra) Aguilar; siblings, Santiago, Juan, and Dolores; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren, and her pet, Brooke.

Josephine is preceded in death by her loving husband, Manuel; her son, Rey; her parents, Manuel and Guadalupe; her sister, Carmen; and her brother, David.

Service will be held Monday, October 29, at Holy Cross Catholic Parish in Morenci, beginning with a viewing at 9 a.m. The Rosary will follow at 10 a.m., and the funeral Mass will start at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the McGrenra Hall.
