Obituary for Helen Lopez

Helen S. Lopez, of Solomon, passed away on Aug. 29, 2020, at her home with her family nearby.  She was born on Nov. 10, 1930, in Solomon to parents George L. Sainz and Gabriela Carreon Sainz, with siblings, Elisa, Virginia, Jesse, and Jose.

Helen graduated from Safford High School.  She married Victor Lopez and began working as a teacher’s aide.  The family began to grow with the births of each of their children, Mary, Judy, and Victoria.

Helen enjoyed reading and shopping and was overjoyed with the births of her grandchildren.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, units 4, 28, and 32.

She is survived by her children, Mary Vizcarra, Judy Rodriguez, and Victoria Romero; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, with another one on the way.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Victor Lopez; her parents, Goerge and Gabriela Sainz; her sisters, Elisa, Virginia, and Jesse, and her brother, Jose.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, beginning at 6 p.m. at the McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, beginning at 11 a.m. at Our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Solomon.  Interment will be in the Solomon Cemetery following services.
