Obituary for Glenda ‘Elaine’ Humphrey

Glenda “Elaine” Humphrey, 71, of Pima, passed away March 2, 2020, at her home. Elaine was born Oct. 11, 1948, in Morenci, to Raymond and Manda “Irene” West.

She attended Morenci High School and graduated in 1966. Following graduation, she married the love of her life, Charlie Humphrey, on Sept. 2, 1966, in Morenci, where Charlie started working for Phelps Dodge.

In 1978, they moved to Verde Lee, where they raised two children; Anthony and Janet.  When the devastating flood of Clifton happened, Elaine started volunteering for the Red Cross to help people whose lives were turned upside down by that tragedy. She also worked as a paramedic for Kords Ambulance Service from 1984 – 1991. She loved her job and helping people and loved making new friends. Everyone in town knew her.

Elaine retired in 1991, and when Charlie retired in 1997 from Phelps Dodge, they moved to Pima. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved teaching them new things and loved to read the bible to them all and tell them about our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ.

Elaine is survived by her children, Anthony Humphrey, Kelly Montez, and Janet (Joe) Baca; her grandchildren, Michael Bingham, Cameron Humphrey, Kaitlyn Mazzini, Matthew Baca, Ashley Baca, and Analisa Baca; her great-grandchildren, Victoria Pizano, Ezara and Zarek Hales, Kasidy Baca, McCoy Hunt, Abelyn Mazzini, and Leilani Bingham; her sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Hanson and Glinda “Joyce” (Tom) Panichi; her brothers, Darrel (Mary Ann) West and Donald West, and numerous nephews, nieces, and many other family members.

A Viewing will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 6, at The River Church. The funeral will begin at 12 p.m., Friday,  March 6, at The River Church. Interment will follow in the Pima Cemetery.
