Evans Rope Sr., of Bylas, Arizona passed away on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at the age of 86. After several months of declining health, Evans died peacefully with his children by his side.
Evans was born in San Carlos, Arizona on June 20, 1936, to Chris and Gertrude Stanley Rope. The youngest of 12 children, Evans didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education which is why he would encourage his own children and grandchildren about higher education. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to him working as a BIA Police Officer for the San Carlos Apache Tribe and cattle rancher for the San Carlos Cattle Association. He also served as Pastor of the Bylas Second Miracle Church for 24 years.
Evans is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosie; his son, Lariat Rope; four grandchildren, and his parents and his siblings. He is survived by his children, Rose Marie Rope, Dave Rope Sr., Evan Rope Jr., Carrie Smithson, Johnny Rope, Evelyn Hinton, and Melvalena Kitcheyan; 28 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
An overnight wake service for Pastor Evans Rope Sr. is planned for Thursday, Nov. 10, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Bylas Second Miracle Church. Funeral services will be on Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. at Bylas Second Miracle Church at the Ready to Go subdivision in Bylas, Arizona. All are welcome to attend.
