Ernest (Ernie) Abalos Jr. was born April 23, 1955, in Safford, to Ernest Mata Abalos and Frances Sara Gallegos Abalos. Ernie had three siblings; Irene Abalos, Mike Abalos, and Monica Ramirez.
Ernie attended Safford High School – graduating in 1973 – and will be remembered as a great friend to his classmates. Ernie married his sweetheart, Stella, on Dec. 17, 1993. He worked as a Tech II for Freeport McMoran. Ernie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and being with family, especially his grandchildren. He was the life of every party and loved to make everyone laugh.
Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Abalos Sr.; his son, Christopher Abeyta; and his uncle, Joe Gallegos. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Stella Abalos; his children, Susie Arbizo (JoPaul), Crystal Abalos, Christopher Abalos, and Becca Smith (Chevel). He has eight grandchildren; Kamia Arbizo, JoPaul Arbizo Jr., Jerick Arbizo, Jayden Arbizo, Keya Arbizo, Ariyah Smith, Liliana Romero, and Brianna Abalos; and one great-grandchild; Treycen Arbizo.
