Obituary for Eduardo ‘Wardy’ Samuel Peña

Eduardo “Wardy” Samuel Peña was suddenly taken Oct. 6.  He was born to Emma Onsurez and Michael Peña on April 29, 1991, in Safford.

Wardy was a lifelong resident of Safford and attended grade school through high school in Safford, graduating from Safford High School.  He enjoyed sports, music, dancing and playing with his nieces and nephews.  He had a gentle and patient way with babies and always had a smile on his face and a hug for those he loved.

He was happy when he was buying clothes and was always into the latest fashion.  Wardy didn’t like getting dirty, but he would if you asked him.  He would often reminisce of being outdoors with his step-dad and brothers and how much fun they had together.  He loved food and was fortunate enough to have a mom who could cook!  Every year he requested a huge fruit salad from his God-mother and ended up eating half of it!

Wardy was funny and loved to make others laugh . . . he would dance, take off his shirt and his family would tease him about his bones.  To those who knew him, he was full of love.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sonny and Emma Onsurez, his father, Michael Peña, his brothers; Michael, Daniel, and Joey Peña, and his sister, Keena Franco, 11 nieces & nephews, and 1 great-nephew.

Wardy is preceded in death by his grandmother, Eloise Bencomo.

A public viewing will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 5 p.m. at the McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel with the internment in the Sanchez Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m.

Wardy will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arrangements are under the direction of McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel & Gila Valley Crematory.  Online condolences may be extended at www.caldwellfuneralchapel.com.
