Della Abalos Gauna, of Safford, passed into eternity on June 20, 2019. She was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Aragon, New Mexico, to parents Monico Abalos and Victoria Mata Abalos, and her siblings, Ernest, Max, Tilly, Thomasa, Clorinda, and Helen.
On Feb. 14, 1958, Della married her one true love, Frank Quiroz Gauna, and they were blessed with six children; Frank, Stella, Marvin, Rebecca, Peter, and Lora.
Della was a wonderful wife and mother who loved to care for her family. She loved to go fishing and camping, playing softball and Bingo, enjoyed her long walks, loved watching the Diamondbacks and Cardinals play and spending time with her grandchildren. Della was also a member of the American Legion, Post 32.
She was a very loving and kind person who was adventurous and spontaneous. She never left you without saying, “I love you”.
Della is survived by her children, Frank Gauna, Stella Soto, Marvin Gauna, Becky Harrison, Pete Gauna, and Lora Gauna; her partner, Larry Springfield; her siblings, Clorinda Dominguez and Helen Rodriguez; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and her pets, Cinnamon and Ginger.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Gauna, Sr., and her siblings, Max Abalos, Ernest Abalos, Tilly Lucero, and Thomasa Marin.
Services for Della will be held Saturday, June 29, at the McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel, starting with a viewing at 8 a.m., followed by the funeral services at 10 a.m.
