Obituary for Daniel Rios

Daniel Rios, 36, of Safford, entered into eternal rest Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, in Frisco, Texas.

Daniel was born in Safford on Dec. 13, 1984, to George and Rosie (Dominguez) Rios. After graduating from Safford High School in 2003, Daniel attended a semester at the University of Arizona. He attended the police academy and worked as a peace officer for more than a year. He then went on to work for Southwest Energy in Morenci before leaving to finish his bachelor’s degree.

Daniel graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2018 with his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies – Justice Studies with an emphasis in Intelligence Studies. During and after this time, he continued working for the city of Safford, where he had worked in the water, gas, and IT departments. Daniel loved playing/watching sports and the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and taking ranger rides with his family. He also had a love for the Dallas Cowboys. Daniel was one of a kind, the life of the party, always making time for everyone he knew or just met. He had an infectious smile and laugh.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Jenneka Rios; their three children, Brinlee, Maizee, and Whitten; his parents, George (Christine) and Rosie Rios; his brothers, Javier (Danielle) and Josh Rios; his in-laws and their families; the Dominguez and Rios family, and his close friends (who were like family).

Funeral services for Daniel will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m., at The River Community Church in Safford by Pastor David Chapman. Concluding services will follow in the Safford Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, Sept. 17, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Saturday morning from 9 until 9:45 a.m., at The River Community Church in Safford.
