Obituary for Daniel Burton Gray Sr.

Daniel Burton Gray Sr., of York Valley, passed away on April 17, 2020. Daniel was born on July 5, 1943, in Washington, Pennsylvania to Henry Leslie Gray and Edith Mae Harkins Gray.

Daniel was a proud member of the United States Air Force and served his country in Vietnam. He met Elcira Romero while stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force base in Tucson. The couple married in 1965 and raised six children in southeastern Arizona.

Daniel had a long career as a skilled tradesman. He was a Journeyman Electrician through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, certified welder, HVAC technician, and commercial semi-truck driver. He acquired many skills, including automotive, carpentry, and electronics, in which he used to help anyone in need. He was also a great teacher; formally teaching woodshop classes, however, he would teach anyone with a willingness to learn. Daniel was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elcira; children, Daniel Jr., Denise (Kenneth), Deborrah, Diane (Charles), Donna (Danny), and David (Nora); siblings, Janet, Dorothy, Paul, Dennis, and Kathy; grandchildren, Daniel III, Ava, Jacob, Devonte, Kari, Krystian, Mark, Luke, Celine, Tyler (Laura), Kirsten, and David Jr., and great-grandchildren, Daniel IV, Amarii, Asuna, Anthony, Josiah, Arazya, Erik Jr., and Zachariah.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Eugene, Priscilla, Lois Ann, Mary Louise, Robert, Wayne, Ellen Jane, and Nancy, and grandson, Kevin Jr.

A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 28, beginning at 10 a.m. held at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
