SAFFORD — Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center (MGRMC) has marked a major milestone in rural healthcare, becoming the first hospital in Arizona and the entire Southwest to utilize a newly FDA-approved advanced cardiovascular technology.

The MGRMC Cardiac Cath Lab has successfully integrated Cordis’s SELUTION SLR™ drug-eluting balloon. The innovative device is the first and only FDA-approved sirolimus drug-eluting balloon in the United States designed specifically for treating coronary in-stent restenosis.

“SELUTION SLR is the first and only FDA-approved sirolimus drug-eluting balloon in the United States for the treatment of coronary in-stent restenosis,” the release states. “The technology delivers medication directly to the artery while leaving no additional permanent implant behind.”

Hospital leadership highlighted that bringing this cutting-edge treatment to southeastern Arizona underscores MGRMC’s dedication to providing advanced, specialized cardiovascular care close to home. The hospital commended Michael Jerman, M.D., and the entire Cath Lab team for their continued efforts in expanding life-saving treatment options for local patients.
