SAFFORD – The Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center (MGRMC) is pleased to announce the hospital has acquired the surgical practice of Bart J. Carter, M.D., F.A.S.C. As the sole general surgeon in our community, Dr. Carter has been a private practitioner for more than 25 years and will bring his experience to the new Mt. Graham Surgical Associates, a hospital-owned clinic designed to meet the general surgery needs of the Gila Valley. With his knowledge and extensive background, Dr. Carter and his team will provide a strong foundation and credibility for this new hospital endeavor that will resonate with the residents of both Graham and Greenlee counties.

“Dr. Carter has been a vital part of our hospital community for many years,” explained Roland Knox, CEO of MGRMC. “The acquisition of his clinic provides the foundation for building an even more robust general surgery service.”

Bringing Dr. Carter aboard to lead Mt. Graham Surgical Associates is the first step in what is projected to be an extensive expansion of MGRMC’s general surgery offerings. The hospital anticipates additional general surgeons joining the clinic in the near future.

Patients currently scheduled for surgery will not experience any disruption to their healthcare service. The clinical space for Mt. Graham Surgical Associates is currently housed in the same office space as Dr. Carter’s previous clinic. Once completed, the clinic will move into its permanent home in the new Medical Office Building located on the campus’ south side adjacent to the MGRMC Cancer Center.
