SAFFORD – Just one week after being jailed for leading police on a vehicle pursuit while driving on a suspended license, Roosevelt Kitchen, 34, was pulled over after being caught driving without a license.

According to a Safford Police report, an officer was on patrol March 8 at about 1:11 p.m. when he noticed Kitchen driving a red pickup truck. The officer was aware of the previous week’s incident, in which Kitchen recklessly drove through stop signs while fleeing from police and was eventually arrested for unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement, reckless driving, and aggravated DUI. Kitchen was jailed on the first two charges, which DUI charges are pending lab test results of his blood.

The officer then did a quick records check which showed Kittchen’s driver’s license to be suspended. The officer then initiated a traffic stop and the truck pulled over into the Speedway gas station at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 8th Street.

Kitchen, who felt he was being harassed by law enforcement, was then given a citation for driving on a suspended license and released. His truck, however, was impounded for a 30-day impound.
