GRAHAM COUNTY – A 22-year-old man reportedly overdosed on heroin while being booked into the Graham County Adult Detention Facility for warrants on Feb. 8.

According to a Graham County Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy was dispatched to the jail at about 3:30 p.m. after the subject became unresponsive while watching TV in the booking room. The man allegedly admitted to jail medical personnel that he had used heroin just 30 minutes prior to arriving at the jail.

Paramedics from Lifeline Ambulance arrived at the scene and transported the man to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for treatment.

According to jail staff, nobody saw the man ingest anything while in the custody of the jail and no items were located where the subject had been sitting.

The man was wanted on charges of unlawful use of means of transportation and possession of drug paraphernalia. The drug paraphernalia charge was dismissed Feb. 12 and the unlawful use of means of transportation charge was bound over to Graham County Superior Court.
