SAFFORD – Verle Henry, 36, was arrested and booked into the Graham County Adult Detention Facility on Dec. 6 after allegedly beating the mother of his children while wearing brass knuckles. Henry was charged with aggravated assault/domestic violence.

According to a Safford Police report, officers were dispatched at about 7:41 p.m. to the victim’s residence on Central Avenue regarding the assault.

Upon arrival, the victim was found with several large lumps on her forehead and was bleeding from underneath her eye.

The victim advised that she has two children with Henry but that he does not live with her. She said she was home when Henry forced his way into her residence and struck her in the face while wearing black-colored brass knuckles.

After officers received the statement from the victim, she was treated by Lifeline Ambulance personnel.

Officers then went to another residence on Central Avenue and located Henry. At that time, Henry advised that the victim had bitten his hand and that he pushed her for doing so. He denied having any brass knuckles or striking her. Henry did have a small laceration on his hand, but it did not look like a bite mark, according to the officer.

Henry was then arrested for aggravated assault and when searched a set of black brass knuckles was located in his jacket pocket. He was then transported to the jail and booked for the aggravated assault.
