Letter to the Editor: Border Patrol should focus on criminals for deportation

Dear Editor:

I am the daughter of two hard-working Mexican immigrants who came to this country for a better future not only for them but for their children. My family was never on public assistance and through the hard work and good parenting skills my parents dedicated themselves to, they produced 3 United States Federal Agents who proudly served their country in their capacity as agents and continue to do so.

I was once a Border Patrol Agent and life eventually led me in the direction of Social Services,, going for a VA Appeal file. I understand the pressures and demands of the USBP from the Executive Branch’s self-serving agenda. They do what they are commanded to do in fulfillment of their duties sworn into by oath on their EOD dates. I am also a conscious human being and find myself confused by the intense focus on the immigrant population that is here, truly illegal but hard-working and honest human beings.

I wish that ICE and Border Patrol would instead focus on the true “hombres malos” as Mr. Dump (Trump) stated once and instead of persecuting the good, look for the previously departed aggravated felons.  I specifically know one here in Phoenix who according to the law has been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude and under immigration law that makes him a persona non grata band from applying for admission forever. Instead, he is a homeowner whose adult children have done nothing but commit crimes and, in turn, their children followed in their footsteps. That is just one example of such people I know in similar situations in a couple of states. Yet my son has proudly served in Iraqi Freedom and is consistently denied disability benefits for injuries he clearly obtained during his time in service for our country. What is the logic? Help me understand!

All this man came to this country for was to commit crimes, and raise criminal children who in turn raised criminal children of their own.

Those are the insolent immigrants who should have been persecuted and prosecuted as all they did was plant their seeds here in this country that my siblings, my child, and myself have served this country honorably.

Sad state of affairs. I am a naturalized U.S. citizen and I love and honor and have protected it with all the integrity instilled in me by my immigrant parents.
