Joint covert police operation nets online sexual predators

GRAHAM COUNTY – A joint police operation involving the Graham County Sheriff’s Office, Safford and Thatcher police departments, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Homeland Security, resulted in the arrest of two alleged Internet predators Aug. 9 and 10.

Billy Bishop, 68, was arrested and booked into the Graham County Adult Detention Facility on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, luring a minor for sexual exploitation, aggravated luring a minor for sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, and sexual extortion.

Christopher Decker, 28, was arrested and booked on a charge of luring a minor for sexual exploitation.

The Graham County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release about the arrest thanking those who assisted on the case.

“The Graham County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank all the agencies that participated in this operation,” the release stated. ” We also remind parents to please discuss internet safety with their children and the associated dangers that can and do exist with social media usage.”

On Monday, the Greenlee County Sheriff’s Office advised of the arrest of another alleged sexual predator in an unrelated case.

Michael L Acosta, 65, was arrested and charged for sexual assault and sexual conduct with a minor as a result of an investigation at the Apache Grove Bar. He is being held on $200,000 cash bond, according to the statement from the Greenlee County Sheriff’s Office.
