Do you think Yuma is just a hot, dusty desert town? Let BOW prove you wrong! Attend the day-and-a-half BOW workshop and enjoy time on and around the Colorado River. This venue is unique in Arizona BOW history because it is in town rather than in the woods. Participants can see the amazing transformation of the Yuma East and West Wetlands! Thanks to a partnership between the Heritage Area, Quechan Indian Tribe, City of Yuma, and Arizona Game and Fish Department, this area has been cleaned up and restored from a garbage pit to a model of wetlands restoration. Participants of this BOW will get the opportunity to learn about the plants and birds of the wetland, kayak in the Colorado River, and participate in various other outdoor activities in and around the river and wetlands.

Thanks to the support of the Yuma Valley Rod and Gun Club, Yuma Audubon, Yuma SWAG, Yuma Parks and Recreation, Arizona Flycasters, and Arizona Game and Fish.

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) is the Arizona Wildlife Federation’s award-winning program that helps women gain outdoor skills and confidence. BOW Workshops provide a safe and supportive environment where women feel comfortable learning, making life-long friends, and having fun in the outdoors. These workshops are led by AWF’s dedicated and professional BOW coordinators with help from numerous volunteers, including Arizona Game and Fish Department employees and many other experts in their fields. This year, Arizona BOW is turning 30 years old!
