ARIZONA/NEW MEXICO — Major monsoon flooding has forced the complete closure of U.S. Highway 70 in both directions in New Mexico and eastbound at the Arizona–New Mexico state line, local transport officials announced.
According to the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), a critical section of U.S. 70 remains impassable near mile marker 25, about one mile east of Redrock, because floodwaters caused severe roadway erosion and collapse.

- New Mexico Closure: Closed in both directions between the NM 90 junction and the Arizona state border.
- Arizona Closure: Closed eastbound at the New Mexico border, preventing interstate traffic from entering the damaged stretch.
- Detour Availability: No immediate alternative routes are available. NMDOT strongly advises motorists to detour using Interstate 10 or other major regional highways. From the Arizona side, alternate routes can be Highway 191 to I-10. Another Alternate route into New Mexico is Highway 78.
