Greenlee County announces two new COVID-19 deaths

GREENLEE COUNTY – Late Monday night, the Greenlee County Health Department advised of the seventh and eighth deaths attributed to COVID-19. 

According to the release, one victim was from the Morenci area and the other was from the Duncan area. The victims were in their 60s and 80s, according to the release. 

Greenlee still has the lowest recorded number of deaths due to COVID-19 by far, with the next lowest county being La Paz at 67 and Graham County at 68. The county has been aggressively administering the Moderna vaccine and anyone over the age of 18 can register to receive the vaccine. The health department also announced three new positive tests for COVID-19, bringing the county’s pandemic total to 550. 

As of Monday, the health department has administered 4,817 tests with 4,167 negatives and 550 positives. The county lists 48 currently active cases, with 494 recovered cases, and eight deaths.
