GRAHAM COUNTY – The Graham County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the opening of three seats on the chamber’s board of directors.

The chamber board will be saying a fond farewell to two members who served the community and the chamber. Doug Gardner, of Velocity Builders, and Tabetha Aranda, of Tera Cottage Designs LLC, are ending their terms in December.  There is also an additional open seat on the board, which when filled with seats includes nine business owners.

New board members will be voted on by the chamber’s nomination board in October and approved by the full membership in November. The role of a board of directors member is to meet with the board once a month, have a committee meeting once a month, and volunteer for the chamber’s community events.  Once elected, governing board member terms last for three years with the option of renewing for three more years.

Torey Cranford, owner of Cakes with TLC, said she is enjoying her second year of being on the chamber’s board of directors.

“The board and the chamber, and the team, are awesome. I love what we get to do with our community,” she said. “I love the events the chamber gets to put on.”

The Chamber is a great tool for the community, as well as business owners, Cranford said.

“As a small business owner, the chamber has been a huge asset in helping me network, advertise, and reach out to potential clients.”

Serving the community is one of the best aspects of volunteering with the board, Cranford said. Providing a place for the community to celebrate together each year through chamber events is also something she cherishes.

“We have a lot of fun,” said Vance Bryce, Graham County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “It’s a fun volunteer position. You’ll have the benefits of building relationships with the other board members and chamber staff for the rest of your life.”

Anyone interested in joining the board must be a chamber member, a business owner, and willing to join meetings and volunteer at chamber events. For more information, and to apply for the chamber board, call the Graham County Chamber of Commerce at (928) 428-2511.
