The Gila Valley Disc Golf Club will be holding a membership tournament on Saturday, Feb. 26, starting at 9 a.m. at the Graham County Fairgrounds.

Membership cost is $20, which includes an official club tag, voting in future club matters, setting division rank, and networking with like-minded players. Money raised from memberships goes toward purchasing discs, prizes for tournaments, and upgrading the course.

The tournament will be a singles division but will have random doubles and putt off and ace off for fun.

Disc golf follows the same basic rules as regular golf but instead of hitting a golf ball players throw a disc (frisbee) at a target (usually a basket with chains to help catch the disc). There are between nine and 18 holes, and the player with the lowest number of overall throws wins.

The Graham County Disc Golf Course at the Graham County Fairgrounds was created in 2018 and contains nine holes featuring water hazards and elevation changes. It is located near the duck pond and can be accessed from Armory Road.

So, come out to the Graham County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Feb. 26, starting at 9 a.m. near the duck pond to join in on the fun. Those with questions can contact Aaron Medina at (928) 965-7818.
