Fright Night at the Museum returns for its spooky 5th year

Staff Reports

PIMA – One of the spookiest haunted houses in the Gila Valley has to be at the Eastern Arizona Museum at the corner of Main Street and Highway 70 in Pima. But this year the volunteer staff will also be offering a peak under the veil with “no-scare” tours to take in the spectacle and enormity of what the many hours of work has transpired. Tours, both with and without scares, are just $5 a head and all proceeds benefit the Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society.

This year, the Museum has been divided into 14 different sections, and community members and volunteers have taken those sections and worked to decorate them in a way to entertain and frighten. Volunteers have been working for the last few weeks to prepare their sections for opening night. If previous years have taught us anything, it’s to make sure you come early.

The Fright Night at the Museum will only be open for three nights this year, Thursday, Oct. 26 – Saturday, Oct. 28, from 7-9 p.m.

No-scare tours are offered on Friday, October 27, and Saturday, October 28, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. During these hours, there will be no live actors, all lights will be on, and each group will be walked through with a guide that can explain the various sections. We know many would like to support the good cause but have no interest in attending the haunted house. For those people, the “no scare” on Friday or Saturday morning is the perfect way to show support. All proceeds from the event go directly to the Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society.

Thursday night is always the night with the shortest wait times, so let’s fill that night up too!

There will also be a Halloween Carnival presented by the Pima Elementary PTO that will take place on Edd Hubbard Field (football field) at Pima High School on Friday, Oct. 20, from 5-8 p.m. The carnival will feature game booths, candy prizes, train rides, dummy roping, ultimate bounce, food trucks, and more. Entry to the carnival for those 3 and older is just $5 per person.
