Friday begins second round of 2019 Morenci Lions tourney

Day two of the 41st Morenci Lions Club Invitational baseball tournament has Saint Johns versus Duncan at 8 a.m., Heber Mogollon vs. Pima at 10:30 a.m., Elfrida Valley Union vs. Miami at 1 p.m., Phoenix Christian vs. Thatcher at 3:30 p.m., Washington Kirkland Lake Washington vs. Safford at 6 p.m., and Morenci vs. Willcox at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12.

Teams advancing in the championship bracket were Thatcher, 17-1 in three innings over Duncan; Safford, 7-2 over Heber Mogollon; Phoenix Christian, 13-1 in five innings over Pima; Lake Washington, 11-3 in five innings over Saint Johns; Willcox 8-5 in eight innings over Miami; and Morenci, 20-4 in three innings over Valley Union on the April 11.
