Fire burns trailer home in Safford

SAFFORD – A trailer caught fire and burned to a total loss in Safford on Monday afternoon.

The fire was in the 900 block of 3rd Avenue, just south of the Thriftee Food & Drug store.

The volunteer Safford Fire Department responded at about 3:30 p.m. to the scene in 111-degree heat and kept the blaze to the single structure.

Safford Police cordoned off the area for the firefighters, who made quick work of the fire. City electrical workers also responded to the scene to deal with the electrical line going to the trailer.

According to Safford Police Chief Glen Orr, the resident was home when the fire started but made it out without any injury. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
