GRAHAM COUNTY – Like a scene out of a movie, a man rushed his pregnant fiancee to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center early Wednesday morning at speeds up to 100 mph due to the frequency of her contractions.

Graham County Dispatch was notified of the situation by the father himself at about 12:12 a.m. The man advised he was headed to the hospital and was passing Klondyke Road while eastbound on Highway 70. He said his fiancée’s contractions were less than 5 minutes apart, so he was speeding at about 100 mph with his hazard lights on to quickly make it to the hospital before she gave birth.

The Sheriff’s Office advised the man to slow down and follow police officers’ commands. The man was advised that EMS personnel would meet him if there was an emergency.

By then the man was already passing Kainoa’s Hawaiian Grill in Thatcher and a Thatcher Police sergeant escorted the man the rest of the way to the ambulance bay doors of the Emergency Room at the hospital, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

The couple safely made it to the hospital without further incident to deliver their baby.
