Editorial: Hillary’s next casting call?

Like the proverbial “bad penny,” Hillary Clinton always seems to show up.

The Clintons’ various adventures in questionable behavior are lengthy and legendary.  In spite of her and Bill’s controversial involvements in legal and political shenanigans, dating back to his days as governor of Arkansas, few accusations, assertions, or allegations ever stuck.

They were Teflon.  Which probably accounted for the familiar “Slick Willy” and “Slippery Hillary” monikers.

Oh sure, there were a couple of Bill’s sexual improprieties – a particular one resulting in an unsuccessful presidential impeachment attempt – later explained as just Oval Office oral discussions between a young intern and the most powerful man in the world.

Bill publicly assured us on national TV, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky.  I never asked anyone to lie.”  The smudge on Monica’s famous “blue dress” contradicted that particular claim.

In a riveting point of law, on Sep. 13, 1998, it was later argued by Bill before the grand jury “It depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.”  As usual, William Jefferson Clinton was miles ahead of bewildered jury interrogators and Congressional members.  Certainly slick enough to avoid an impeachment conviction.

Through it all, in spite of Bill’s multiple amorous adventures, Hillary stoically stood by her man.

What a gal!

Skip forward a few decades and we see Hillary’s been First Lady of the United States, U.S. Senator, U.S. Secretary of State, ran for U.S. president a couple of times, and formed a very lucrative foundation, amassing millions of dollars.

She was also clandestinely involved — allegedly — in one of the most controversial presidential campaigns in the United States.  The Trump-Clinton 2016 bruhaha is continuing to be examined and discussed has been unmatched in intrigues, spying accusations, international scandals, and questionable campaign tactics than any previous election.

Donald Trump was eventually elected, but his presidency was plagued with supposed wrong-doings and other mischiefs to such a degree nearly every day he was accused of perpetrating some kind of shenanigans – real or imagined.

Irritated Democrats, led by Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), twice impeached “45”.  However, trying as mightily as they could, sometimes tip-toeing along a thin line of lawful pursuit, they just couldn’t convince sufficient members of the Senate to convict 45 of the allegations.

A nearly two-year FBI investigation of reported “Trump-Russia collusions” failed to turn up enough evidence to substantiate Trump was actively involved in the caper, although the mainstream media did their best to insist he was.

The daily news cycle became so comical that nearly every reported Trump White House story was, somehow, associated with “Russiagate.”   The lunacy lasted his entire time in office.

It’s still going on, only now the conniving is intensifying.  Hillary is not looking as innocent as portrayed.  No surprise to Trump, he’s been saying that all along.

(Remember Hillary’s email debacle?  When she was Sec. of State, she used a hidden private email server for official government communications.  As a result, there were no government records of those communications.  When found out, cell phones were destroyed and thousands of emails were deleted, disappeared and the server wiped clean).

As a distraction, the “Russia collusion” story was concocted insisting Trump had a “secret hotline” to a Russian bank and President Vladimir Putin’s office, teaming with them to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, later debunked the reports, concluding there was insufficient evidence of Trump’s collusion.

The media has continually dismissed Trump’s claims he was spied upon by Hillary sponsored activists, regarding such accusations as conspiracy theories and without merit.

Now, as more information is revealed things are looking differently.  It’s beginning to appear Hillary was deeper into this escapade than previously reported.

Just as Trump suspected and suggested years ago.

As expected, most of the national press is remaining suspiciously silent on these new revelations. Choosing, instead, to redirect attention to the Russia-Ukraine border dispute, Canadian truckers protest, China’s Winter Olympics, or any other topic that will not shine the spotlight on Hillary.

More recently, Hillary is again stirring the pot.  Speaking before the New York Democratic Convention about 10 days ago, she recited the usual glossary of Trump barbs and rehashed how things would have been more pleasant under a different administration.

A hint, perhaps, she’s looking to see if Democrats have someone in mind to replace Joe and Kamala in 2024, whose plummeting popularities and incompetency can no longer be dismissed.  A major Republican win in the 2022 Midterm Elections in November could force Democrats to alter course and seek a new presidential candidate.  The Biden Administration has swiftly cascaded into a waterfall of perpetual errors and Hillary, like everyone else, realizes it.

Stay tuned as the stomach turns.  Like a never-ending TV soap opera, Hillary Clinton believes she continues to remain relevant in a twisting script of plots, deceptions, and who-done-it of presidential politics.  The storyline may not be entirely about her, but she always seems to be lurking in the background, awaiting the next casting call.
