Column By Mike Bibb
With about two weeks to go, Donald Trump’s arrival in Washington — and Joe Biden’s departure — will officially be history.
Then, we can start all over with the b.s. when listening to the talking heads in the mainstream media.
But first, we’ll have to endure the accolades and pompous celebrations for former President Jimmy Carter, our disastrous Democrat, single-term, 39th President.
Next to Joe Biden’s calamity in the White House, James Earl Carter’s tour of duty (1977-81) was probably the second worst in modern history.
Just when you thought Jimmy’s wacky Presidential exploits couldn’t be topped, along comes Joe to make him seem like a junior apprentice.
Jimmy will be remembered best for what he didn’t do — virtually nothing when the economy was tanking, inflation was soaring, fuel was scarce, our foreign influence was declining, and several dozen hostages were held captive by Iran for 444 days.
Carter’s crowning disappointment came when he lost his reelection campaign in a landslide against Ronald Reagan. Jimmy only carried a handful of states and got swamped in the Electoral College, earning only 49 votes to Reagan’s 489.
It was a blowout, which hasn’t been duplicated since.
Incidentally, the hostages were released the very same day Reagan was sworn into office.
Coincidence? I don’t think so.
Maybe to avoid a similar perceived disaster, the Democrat National Committee removed Joe Biden from contention prior to the 2024 General Election.
His replacement, Vice President Kamala Harris, didn’t win either, but at least she didn’t lose the EC vote by over 400.
However, both elections experienced something in common — a large Democrat turnout for the Republican candidate.
Still, Joe isn’t going quietly. Recently, he’s insisted he could have beaten Trump if he’d stayed in the contest.
Apparently, totally oblivious to what’s going on in the country and world since he’s been in office.
As the saying goes, “Denial is not a river in Egypt.” Joe may wish to consult a World Atlas for clarification. Or parley with his wife, Dr. Jill, who seems to be knowledgeable in such things.
Even more alarming is the Democrat Party’s unapologetic move to the far left. Resulting in several party members resigning their membership and joining the Republicans.
This should be a hint that if the Dems do not reverse their woke course and return to a more moderate political ideology, future election celebrations could be in jeopardy. Marxism, Leninism, Communism, and its various offshoots are all intertwined with Socialism — the gradual march toward unification of government and the private sector into a single regulatory bureaucracy administered by a select consortium of national and international advisors.
All assuring they know what’s best for us — until it isn’t.
A perfect example is their continual push for abolition or control of individual gun ownership, knowing an armed and informed citizenry is the most obstinate obstruction to their plans.
Consequently, the demise of a free and independent press (1st Amendment) is predicated upon the necessity of initially eliminating the guarantees and protections cited within the 2nd Amendment.
It’s a story as old as civilization. A few will always try to regulate the many in whatever manner they can. A much easier task when the people are not adequately equipped to defend themselves or informed of the approaching menace.
Or misinformed by a complicit press.
In reality, the willingness of the media to go along with Joe’s agenda was a significant contributor to his ultimate downfall. The deceptions continued until it became obvious to anyone with a functioning brain — even to the bosses at the DNC.
It was time to either throw more good money after bad into Joe’s floundering campaign or cut bait and get another candidate.
The DNC chose the latter, thinking that perhaps it couldn’t get any worse and might actually enhance their chances in the 2024 General Election.
It remains to be seen if Kamala’s candidacy was an improvement. Despite spending over a billion and a half dollars in a hundred days, she still lost.
This has sparked another controversy: Where did all the money go?
I’m sure we’re going to find out. Several Democrats and Republicans are wondering the same thing.
