GRAHAM AND GREENLEE COUNTIES – Residents across Graham and Greenlee Counties have a new resource to discover all the amazing food produced within their community. By visiting Local First Arizona Foundation’s Good Food Finder, starting Sept. 14 and through the holiday
season, locals will get to learn about neighbors who are growing local food and find ways to support them. “Eat Local Gila Valley” aims to encourage continued patronage of local producers, markets, and restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic through contactless pickup and takeout — and for years to come.

“The Gila Valley is rich not only in its agriculture history but also economic potential. Through the work started by the Gila Valley Food Coalition, an opportunity to strengthen the food system arose and now felt like the perfect time to get started,” said Liza Noland, Local First Arizona Foundation Director of Rural Programs.

The Gila Valley Farmers Market, an “Eat Local Gila Valley” partner, is celebrating their first anniversary in October and have been an anchor in the community for access to local, healthy food. During the pandemic, their indoor market has upped safety protocol and continues to serve residents Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

“From Angle Orchard to Carter’s Custom Cuts to Out of the Way Farms, good food grows here and everyone should know how easy it is to support one another. I couldn’t be prouder to help showcase Gila Valley grown talent and work with community partners to help lay the groundwork for the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said Vance Bryce, Gila Valley Farmers
Market Manager.

Residents can look forward to watching interviews with local farmers and makers, digging into old family recipes, and scoring “Eat Local Gila Valley” totes, stickers, and water bottles at the Gila Valley Farmers Market.

The Eat Local Gila Valley campaign is made possible by a grant from the Vitalyst Health Foundation. Vitalyst Health Foundation is a public foundation focused on improving well-being in Arizona by addressing root causes and broader issues that affect health.
