EAC’s String Orchestra to present ‘Epic Stories’

By Sarah Savannah Griffin

THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College’s String Orchestra is proud to present “Epic Stories,” a recital with pieces taken from ancient stories and operas. Epic Stories will be performed Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at EAC’s Activities Center- Lee Little Theater. Admission is free.

The recital will include songs from the early operas Iphigenia in Tauris, Rodrigo, Rienzi, and Orpheus in the Underworld. It will also include pieces driven by the well-known stories of Venus and Adonis, Don Quixote, Helen, Countess of Radnor, and Athaliah.

“My students have worked hard to prepare these arrangements for the community,” said EAC’s Orchestra conductor, Franklin Alvarez. “They can’t wait to showcase the skills and talents they have as a whole.”

EAC is delighted to bring this collection of stories through music to its audiences here in the Gila Valley. For more information contact Alvarez at franklin.alvarez@eac.edu.
