EAC’s Fine Arts Division welcomes guest vocalist Dr. Melissa Heath

THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College’s Fine Arts Division will welcome guest vocalist Dr. Melissa Heath for a vocal recital on Oct. 2, at 7 p.m., in the Activities Center – Lee Little Theatre. Admission is free.

Heath, a soprano, enjoys a varied career in opera, concert, and recital work. Hailed as a “soaring, sparkling soprano” with “vivacious stage presence,” recent opera roles include Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen. Recent concert work includes Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem and both Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C Minor with the Temple Square Chorale and Orchestra at Temple Square, Handel’s Messiah with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and both Mozart’s Exsultate, Jubilate and Barber’s Knoxville, Summer of 1915 with Sinfonia Salt Lake.

She is the voice area coordinator and associate chair of the Department of Music at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Along with her public recital on Monday, Oct. 2, she will also provide class presentations, direct a masterclass, and work one-on-one with voice students.
