EAC Theatre Department presents ‘Cinderella Goes Disco’

By Callie Walters/EAC

Thatcher – Eastern Arizona College’s Theatre department is pleased to present “Cinderella Goes Disco” on Feb. 22-25, at 6:30 p.m., in the Lee Little Theater. Admission is $3 per person, or free admission if you come wearing tie-dye.  Families are encouraged to attend, as audience participation may be requested. The show will be performed by the EAC teen theater group and is directed by veteran EAC actor and director, Kathy Hoeft.

Attendees will find something old, something new, and something for everyone in this bright participation play by Shubert Fendrich. “Cinderella Goes Disco” combines three traditional fairy tales in a most unusual fashion.

The prince has invited all the girls in the Kingdom to a big disco dance at the palace . . . but Cinderella (alas!) cannot go, because she has no disco dress. Enter the Fairy Godmother. When Cinderella doubts that she can catch the eye of the handsome prince, the Fairy Godmother tries to convince her by telling her the story of Sleeping Beauty. When Cinderella hesitates a second time, she is told the story of Beauty and the Beast. At last, she is convinced and attends the dance in royal fashion!
