Walkoff homer advances Gila Monsters
ST. GEORGE, UTAH – The No. 7 Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters upset the No. 2 Florida Chipola College Lady Indians, 4-3, in the second round of the National Junior College Activities Association Tournament on Thursday in St. George, Utah.
The Gila Monsters came back from down 3 in the sixth inning and scored once in the bottom of the sixth, twice in the seventh and a walk-off home run by Vesi Liilii in the eighth by for the win.
The tournament is double elimination.
EAC will next take on No. 3 Temple on Friday, starting at 12 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. Temple beat No. 6 Tyler Junior College, 10-4 on Thursday.
