THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College invites the community to enjoy a full schedule of music, theater and special events throughout October. The lineup includes student and community performers, nationally recognized guest artists and entertainment for audiences of all ages.
Oct. 1 — EAC Jazz Showcase
EAC’s instrumental and vocal jazz ensembles will open the month with an evening of jazz standards and contemporary selections at 7 p.m. in the EAC Amphitheater. Admission is free.
Oct. 2 — The Gatlin Brothers
Grammy Award-winning country music legends The Gatlin Brothers will bring their Farewell Celebration Tour to the Fine Arts Auditorium at 7 p.m.
Brothers Larry, Steve and Rudy Gatlin have performed together for more than seven decades. Their career includes seven No. 1 singles, 32 Top 40 records, and hits such as “All the Gold in California,” “Houston,” and “Broken Lady.” Tickets begin at $39.11, including Eventbrite fees, with proceeds benefiting EAC student scholarships.
Oct. 13-17 — “Anon(ymous)”
EAC Theatre will present Naomi Iizuka’s “Anon(ymous)” at 7 p.m. nightly in the SC-3 Theater. Inspired by Homer’s “The Odyssey,” the play follows a young refugee traveling through the United States in search of his family. Tickets are $3.
Oct. 16 — Marching Band Pass and Review Concert
EAC’s marching band will bring the energy and music of its field performances to the Fine Arts Auditorium at 7 p.m. The concert provides an opportunity to experience the band’s fall program in a concert setting. Admission is free.
Oct. 23-24 — Fall Sing: “All Hallows Sing”
EAC vocal ensembles will present their annual Fall Sing at 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday in the Fine Arts Auditorium. This year’s production, “All Hallows Sing,” brings a spirited Halloween theme to one of EAC’s longstanding choral traditions. Tickets are $5.
Oct. 26 — Guest vocalist Samuel Weiser
EAC will welcome acclaimed bass-baritone Samuel Weiser as a guest vocalist for a free performance at 1 p.m. in Lee Little Theater.
Weiser has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera and Washington National Opera and has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra. His operatic repertoire includes roles in “Don Giovanni,” “La bohème,” “Lucia di Lammermoor,” and “The Magic Flute.”
Oct. 26-31 — Disney’s “The Little Mermaid KIDS”
EAC Children’s Theatre will present Disney’s “The Little Mermaid KIDS” at 6:30 p.m. in Lee Little Theater. Featuring performers ages 4-11, the family production follows Ariel, a young mermaid who dreams of exploring the world above the sea. Tickets are $3.
Oct. 30 — Jane Austen Ball: “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”
Guests are invited to step into a playful combination of Regency elegance and Halloween fun during the Jane Austen Ball at 7 p.m. in the Activities Center Main Dining Hall. This year’s theme is “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.” Admission is free.
