Duncan volleyball ends the regular season with Lobos

DUNCAN – The Kassi Mortensen-coached No. 12 Duncan Wildkats (14-3 seeding, 2.4686 rating) host No. 36 Winkelman Hayden (1-15, minus 15.1054) on Tuesday, Oct. 24. It is the regular season finale against the team the Wildkats opened the season on Aug. 28, posting a 3-set (25-11, 25-12, 25-7) win.

Winkelman Hayden Lobos (1-15 seeding)

The Marisa Gallego-coached Lobos (1-15 seeding, 1-9 Copper Region) won one of 16 seeding matches played during the regular season. The sets won are six of 52 or 12 percent.

Hayden’s win was 3-1 over Dishchii’bikoh (Sept. 12). The losses were in five sets once, in four sets once, and  in three sets 13 times.

Duncan Wildkats (14-3)

The Wildkats (14-3, 4-2 Tucson Southeast Region) won 14-17 (.824) seeding matches or 42-55 (.764) sets played. The wins were twice in five sets, four times in four sets, and eight times in three sets while the losses were in four sets once and in three sets twice.

The post-season begins with a 16-team, 4-round bracket at Scottsdale Coronado, 7501 East Virginia Avenue, on Oct. 31.
