SAFFORD – It took 13 grueling rounds of back-and-forth wordsmith wizardry until finally a 2024 Dorothy Stinson Elementary School Spelling Bee champion was crowned.

Fittingly, our champion, Eliyah Sharp, successfully spelled the word “graduate” to fulfill her destiny.

Battling tooth and nail to the end was runner-up, Khloee Carrasco.

Next up for the linguistically enthused is the Graham County Spelling Bee. The event will be held Feb. 13, beginning at 6 p.m. at the General Services Building at 921 W Thatcher Blvd. in Safford.
