SIERRA VISTA – With a thrilling 8-3 victory over a resilient Bisbee Little League squad, the Mt. Graham Little League Softball team officially captured the District 8 Championship, punched their ticket to the State Tournament at Domingo Paiz Sports Complex, and proved that championship heart knows no age limit.
Facing off in a highly competitive battle that went the full six innings, the 8, 9, and 10-year-old athletes from Mt. Graham showcased a masterclass in grit, teamwork, and composure under pressure to secure the crown.
Heart and Grit on Display
Throughout the tournament, the local squad didn’t just win games—they won over the community with their unrelenting hustle and team-first attitude. Whether making clutch plays in the field or putting together disciplined at-bats, the Mt. Graham All-Stars played well beyond their years.
While the scoreboard ultimately favored Mt. Graham, the championship game was a testament to the region’s talent. The Bisbee Little League girls put up an outstanding fight, battling hard through every single inning and showing immense pride and sportsmanship on the diamond.
Next Stop: Avondale and the State Tournament
The celebration will be short-lived, however, as the District 8 champions now turn their sights to the state’s highest stage.
Mt. Graham is scheduled to pack up their gear and bring their trademark fire to Avondale, Arizona, for the State Tournament. The opening games kick off on Monday, July 6, at Festival Fields.
The Gila Valley community congratulates the players, coaches, and families of the Mt. Graham Little League team on an unbelievable district run, and we look forward to cheering them on as they represent our area at state!
